Cullen & Wheeler (A Houston, Texas mix)

I lived in Houston for the first twenty years of my life... Not long before I moved away, someone put out a compilation of Houston bands called I Hate It Here, I Never Want To Leave, which wasn't exactly how I felt about the place (considering that I did leave, willingly), but part of me related to the sentiment. It's hard for me to totally hate on Houston, because the two biggest factors in my musical education growing up were KTRU (the Rice University radio station) & Sound Exchange (it's the best record store in Texas - fuck you, Austin), so there will always be a certain love in my heart for that sprawling, dirty metropolis. Also, if you ever go to Houston, get the vegetarian spring rolls & lemongrass tofu at Mai's Vietnamese restaurant on Milam, then thank me later. Anyway, fellow WMUA DJ & all-around good dude Bryan G requested a mix of Houston bands from me in exchange for his fund drive pledge. Don't mess with Texas, y'all.
